We got a chance to ask Nate Westheimer, president and board member of NY Tech Meetup, what he liked about KeyMe, a crazy new app that was demoed at a recent meetup:

“The KeyMe demo, where they scanned in a key with their phone and they can immediately get it delivered to you, was very cool. What I love about that, and I think it’s sort of representative of a lot of the things that are going on which it incorporates, is that they have the computer vision and the compute power of what’s on your phone, but also recognized that we still live in a very offline world. There are real things like real keys that get us into buildings, real people who make keys who are down the street from us and on the corner. What’s cool about this technology is that it’s on your mobile phone and uses all this fancy technology, but it also connects us with our small business owners. This allows us to solve a major problem that anybody who’s ever waited for a key before has experienced. So that was really the highlight for me this evening and it showed everything that I’ve been seeing in technology wrapped up into one demo.”
